Our History
1994
Jenny Chater & Rob Parker wanted to grow Buxus sempervirens for their own country garden. Because they could not find the quantities they needed at a price they could afford they decided to diversify from their market gardening enterprise and grow their own.
This was the start of ‘ SELWYN GROVE ' and the business has developed from these humble beginnings to the substantial business that it now is. All made possible through being spurred on constantly by the enthusiasm and interest of the most wonderful group of like-minded friends and customers. Thank you.
2005
The nursery now covers 0.6 hectares, employs four full time and four part time workers and grows about 200 varieties specialising in Hedging, Borders, Ground Covers, Camellias, Hebes, Flaxes and Grasses. A large number of these are also Natives
We endeavour to ensure that our prices reflect our practice of growing large numbers of each plant variety without unnecessary extras and so your plants do not have technicolour labels or printed pots. Instead you get the best plants we can produce and the plastic bag !
